Beginning of Tracer's start on recording.
Roderik walks in with his Bannerman. (2011-07-17 14:45)
Dani al-Ghazali says “All right. I think that is all of us that will be coming.” (2011-07-17 15:45)
Dani al-Ghazali says “I called this summit specifically to provide a peaceful alternative to what is almost always a bloody business of conquest or extermination when a new 'ruling' clan moves into a village.” (2011-07-17 15:48)
Dani al-Ghazali nods. "As both Lone Tracer and Wise Solemn could attest to." (2011-07-17 15:49)
Dani al-Ghazali directs his gaze to Roderik. "Instead of doing our best to destroy each other, and causing untold misery to the population in the meantime, I propose we skip all that and proceed to the finale." (2011-07-17 15:51)
Dani al-Ghazali says “That is, to remake Durham the way we desire it to be remade.” (2011-07-17 15:52)
Dani al-Ghazali waits for the others to say something. When no one does, he continues. "At the moment we have only two possibilities." (2011-07-17 20:00)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Option one is the example set by the drifters. An anarchic police state. Surely an oxymoron but on the Blessed Isle I suppose anything is possible. You have numbers, but not respect of the people.” (2011-07-17 20:01)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Option two is an islamic state, which my brother in Ali, alim al-Xuffasch has taken to calling Dura-Durahamastan” (2011-07-17 20:02)
Dani al-Ghazali says “All laws falling under the mandate of shari'a, swift execution and ritual amputation. Although strange and exotic to you, it is essentially a more islamic version of the state I built here in January.” (2011-07-17 20:04)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Here we have the reverse problem, that of low numbers, but on the other hand we--I--have won the respect of the common Durhamite, if not the petty thugs of Palermo.” (2011-07-17 20:05)
Dani al-Ghazali smiles mischievously. "Perhaps we even a common antagonist, at that, though not one that should be carelessly provoked, as you learned." (2011-07-17 20:06)
Dani al-Ghazali says “The best option would be a mix of both, if such a thing is possible. Or, failing that, a duel to decide Durham's fate.” (2011-07-17 20:06)
Dani al-Ghazali opens his knapsack and produces a shisha pipe, which he lights with a tinder and begins to puff on, blowing the fragrant smoke of smouldering apples into the room. "Your move, seyyids." (2011-07-17 20:07)
Roderik says “From what I've seen your Islamic state had all the brutalities of my "anarchistic police state" and none of the men to enforce it.” (2011-07-17 20:38)
Roderik says “And truth be told, there is nothing in place to keep the mercnaries from driving you out a second time. ” (2011-07-17 20:39)
Roderik says “On the other hand, we have all already seen what my men are capable of. Despite our green troops we have the organization, the tenacity, and the numbers to hold.” (2011-07-17 20:42)
Dani al-Ghazali smiles slightly. "Your men are a bunch of low-level thugs. True, they'll grow up one day, but it is unlikely that your vast horde will stick around longer than a month, leaving you two, at most." (2011-07-17 22:08)
Dani al-Ghazali says “My men, on the other hand, are established here in the community, and have both the strength of arms and the gold to survive against any mercenary group that mistakes us for weak.” (2011-07-17 22:09)
Dani al-Ghazali looks visibly less serene. "And though you have the support of the self-supposed king of kafirs, Anthor," here he glances coolly at Solemn, "I have recently concluded an arrangement with the NG." (2011-07-17 22:11)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Bluntly speaking, seyyid, if you are determined to set yourselves over me, I would rather share power with undead natives than with the equally mummified remains of Durham 09, back to plunder us.” (2011-07-17 22:12)
Dani al-Ghazali says “And for the record, seyyid, let me correct you. My governorship of this realm *never* included the wanton slaughter of peacefuls. You may recall I asked you what services the drifters would provide,” (2011-07-17 22:15)
Dani al-Ghazali bows, "Of course, I would rather we come to a suitable arrangement as Durhamites, rather than involving outsiders." (2011-07-17 22:13)
Dani al-Ghazali says “that Durham did not already have, and then listed some out. All those services, seyyid, *I* provided Durham.” (2011-07-17 22:16)
Tracer says “I do... I'll begin speaking now.” (2011-07-17 22:18)
Tracer says “It seems that you said you came to an arrangement with us? Heh... What a load of crap that is, you came into our Spirit Hut, offering us money and not only that, but offering us New Haven/Creedy in...” (2011-07-17 22:22)
Tracer says “exchange for going into Durham and killing the Drifters for you. Now, if memory serves me of what I was told by the others which I'm highly sure it does.... Etherdrifter, turned you down. You then...” (2011-07-17 22:23)
Tracer says “began bribing single members into helping you, of which you only got one person, who is no longer a Necromancer's Guild member at the current moment.” (2011-07-17 22:23)
Dani al-Ghazali says “hmm. I don't recall offering New Haven, since that isn't mine to give away.” (2011-07-17 23:19)
Dani al-Ghazali says “What I said is that I was willing to overlook the New Haven ban on necromancy.” (2011-07-17 23:20)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Regardless, I have offered gold to the NG and gold to anyone else who'll fight under my banner, if fighting is what it will come down to.”
Tracer tilts his head thinking, "Hmm... Well then maybe this should be said..." (2011-07-18 00:53)
Tracer says “So Dani... You never gave these words to Etherdrifter? 'What if I were to annull Solemn's ruling and/or have him declare the ruling nullified?' because it seems that you did.” (2011-07-18 00:54)
Tracer 's head tilts back, his mouth opens, and a voice begins to speak in the voice of Etherdrifter. (2011-07-18 00:55)
Tracer says “"How else would you "annul solemn's ruling" Dani?” (2011-07-18 00:56)
Dani al-Ghazali says “You seem intent on catching me in a lie, seyyid, or embarassing me in front of wise solemn here. I fail to divine your purpose.” (2011-07-18 01:50)
Dani al-Ghazali says “As mukhtar of Durham between january and april of this year I was, for all purposes, the supreme ruler of Durham, able to make laws on behalf of the village.” (2011-07-18 01:51)
Dani al-Ghazali says “During that time I had no need to seek the assistance of the NG, or indeed, of any kafir except khalil Sofaking, and that was purely one of friendship between leaders.” (2011-07-18 01:52)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Had I known of the rivalry between New Haven and the NG, and had there been any reason to pursue an alliance with the NG, I would have simply used my authority to void the ban on necromancy.” (2011-07-18 01:53)
Dani al-Ghazali says “That is what I proposed to do in exchange for assistance from the NG, to offer them untrammelled freedom in Durham, regardless of any past declarations made against them.” (2011-07-18 01:55)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Frankly, seyyid, I'm surprised you haven't mentioned the most controversial aspect of my negotiations with the lich-lord, which was an offer of a spirit hut in Durham. I even offered the med hut,” (2011-07-18 01:56)
Dani al-Ghazali says “but the lich-lord decided that would provoke too much ill-feeling from Durhamites, and he was probably correct.” (2011-07-18 01:56)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Now, I can't (and thus far, haven't) speak for Solemn, but his own words on the subject strongly imply the ban was put in place during a time of war, not meant as a permanent gesture.” (2011-07-18 01:57)
Dani al-Ghazali says “I refer you to: forum.shartak.com/index.php/topic,3457.msg99094.html#msg99094” (2011-07-18 01:58)
Dani al-Ghazali says “New Haven is Solemn's realm. There is no practical way I could seek to impose the results of *my* bargaining onto his settlement. All I could do was bargain as ruler of Durham, which is my right.” (2011-07-18 02:01)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Does that satisfy you, seyyid?” (2011-07-18 02:02)
Dani al-Ghazali turns to Roderik. "This sort of petty diplomatic haranguing happens often. I endured more than was tolerable during my tenure as mukhtar. It certainly gives a bitter-sweet taste to autocracy." (2011-07-18 02:04)
Dani al-Ghazali says “I admit though, that no one is better at creating controversy from the most tedious and insignificant of events than the Necromancer's Guild. It is not the undead aspect I object to, nor their race,” (2011-07-18 02:06)
Dani al-Ghazali looks at Tracer," Kafir, for the most part. No, it is their uncanny imitation of tinpot bureaucrats that forces my gag-reflex." (2011-07-18 02:07)
Dani al-Ghazali says “I don't know the events that prompted Wise Solemn to ban necromancers from Durham, but from a purely practical perspective of having to interact with them daily, I can certainly see *one* motivation.” (2011-07-18 02:13)
Tracer pauses for a moment, his eyes unfocusing, the spectral shape behind him visible for just a moment, the arch-lich Etherdrifter grinning, the glittering in his eyes reflected in Tracer's. (2011-07-18 04:17)
Tracer begins to speak in Etherdrifter's voice again, this time the figure behind him begins to mouth it in unison. (2011-07-18 04:18)
Tracer says “I really should have killed you for your presumption, alas one cannot do such things these days. Young Tracer, and the dark council, believe we should give fools like you a chance to survive.” (2011-07-18 04:23)
Tracer says “In the spirit of this I would advise that you guard your tongue more carefully, least your lack of diplomatic skill be the incident that sways the opinion of the dark council...” (2011-07-18 04:24)
Tracer looks up, his eyes softening a little, the figure behind fading away and his voice losing it's sarcastic drawl as he speaks. (2011-07-18 04:24)
Tracer says “Well... He is right, the council hasn't decided yet on our stance towards you Dani... But, insulting us and the guild itself, will get you no further with us than stabbing me.” (2011-07-18 04:25)
Dani al-Ghazali says “Oh, I don't intend to kill you, seyyid.” (2011-07-18 04:26)
Dani al-Ghazali says “As I recall the King of Kafirs took a savage delight in killing those who disagreed with him. And now look at him. Wiksik's crown is as cracked and fallen as Raktam's is.” (2011-07-18 04:28)
Dani al-Ghazali says “I see now it was a mistake to even consider the possibility of an alliance with devil-worshipping kafirs.” (2011-07-18 04:31)
Dani al-Ghazali says “You have convinced me of their dreadful power. You see, I've been accused of pompousness before, but this was the first time I've felt in danger of being talked to death.” (2011-07-18 04:32)
Dani al-Ghazali says “If your lich seeks recompense for my contemptuous treatment of his guild, by all means, let him assemble his hordes.” (2011-07-18 04:33)
Dani al-Ghazali says “I will gladly drop claim on Durham to see him well-met on a suitable field. There is no greater glory in Islam than to exterminate a pagan cult, especially one that kills through Almighty Tedium.” (2011-07-18 04:35)
Dani al-Ghazali reclines against the stone wall. "Now if that's all, I invite you to take your leave. We have wasted too much time already discussing your worthless clan, and not nearly enough time on Durham." (2011-07-18 04:39)
Roderik nods at Cylerne. (2011-07-18 04:39)
Tracer says “Consider your challenge accepted by the Dark Council.” (2011-07-18 05:38)
Tracer then hands a scroll with a wax seal on it that shows the words, "Ad Mortem" on it to Roderik. (2011-07-18 05:40)
Roderik inspects the scroll briefly before tucking it into his coat. (2011-07-18 05:41)
Cylerne grabs the bloodied up Dani from behind, and supports his weight. (2011-07-18 05:45)
Roderik takes a dagger out, and plunges it deep into Dani's chest, and begins to carve his heart out. (2011-07-18 05:46)
Roderik kills Dani al-Ghazali with a dagger. (2011-07-18 05:46)
Roderik passes the disembodied heart to Tracer. (2011-07-18 05:47)
Tracer then takes the heart and passes it to the spectral figure of Etherdrifter who stands behind him with a wicked smile. (2011-07-18 05:49)
Tracer then begins to walk out as the spectral figure of Etherdrifter disappears. (2011-07-18 05:49)
Roderik says “As do their allies.” (2011-07-18 05:41)
